AcuCort newsletter June 2026

AcuCort Heads to San Diego with More Than 50 Partnering Meetings Booked

At the end of June, AcuCort’s CEO Jonas Jönmark will attend the BIO International Convention in San Diego, the world’s leading partnering conference for life science companies. An important objective is to identify and deepen dialogues with potential licensing partners ahead of the planned NDA submission in 2026.

“I can confirm that interest in AcuCort has increased significantly since we signed the agreement with Glenmark Pharmaceuticals. That interest grew even further after the agreement with the FDA on our iPSP,” says Jonas Jönmark.

The United States is the world’s largest single pharmaceutical market, and over the past six months AcuCort has taken the regulatory steps required to be able to submit an NDA application, New Drug Application, in 2026. Following the agreement with the FDA, AcuCort quickly followed up by applying for a renewed Small Business Waiver, SBW. If the FDA grants the SBW, as the agency has done on two previous occasions, AcuCort will be exempt from the application fee of approximately SEK 16 million.

The Path to Market Is Through a Licensing Agreement
“The strategy for the United States is a licensing agreement, as this model is the best solution for our expansion in the U.S. market,” says Jonas Jönmark.

A licensing agreement means that AcuCort grants the right to sell and market Zeqmelit® in the United States to an established player with an existing sales organization and market knowledge. AcuCort retains ownership of the product and receives compensation in the form of upfront payments and ongoing royalties on sales.

The model is a logical choice for AcuCort. Building its own commercial organization in the United States would require significant capital and take a long time, while a licensing partner with the right network can bring the product to market considerably faster and more cost-effectively, according to Jonas Jönmark.

Strong Interest in AcuCort at BIO International Convention
The BIO International Convention takes place on June 22–25 in San Diego. In addition to Jonas Jönmark, Anna Chérouvrier Hansson, Business Development Director at AcuCort, will also attend. Even before the conference begins, AcuCort has booked more than 50 meetings. All companies on the meeting list have been evaluated based on AcuCort’s criteria for a licensing partner.

The goal is to identify and deepen dialogue with potential licensing partners ahead of the planned NDA submission in 2026. The conference therefore represents an important step in the work to establish the commercial partnerships required for a successful launch of Zeqmelit® in the U.S. market.
