Zeqmelit® is a fast-dissolving oral film (orodispersible film) containing the glucocorticoid dexamethasone. Dexamethasone, the active substance in Zeqmelit®, belongs to the group of glucocorticoids. Glucocorticoids have been used clinically since the 1960s and are prescribed for the treatment of a variety of conditions.
Thus, there is significant knowledge and experience within the medical profession and healthcare system regarding glucocorticoids and their prescription. Glucocorticoids suppress immune reactions and inflammatory processes.
Dexamethasone is one of the more potent glucocorticoids, meaning that even small amounts can be effective. AcuCort has an active patent strategy to protect its intellectual property rights. Zeqmelit® is covered by two patents, which protect both the oral film technology with steroids and the production process.
Orally disintegrating film
Zeqmelit® is a thin, fast-dissolving oral film that melts on the tongue. The patient does not need access to water to use the product. The oral film is delivered in a small package, roughly the size of a business card. Zeqmelit® offers an alternative form of administration for dexamethasone.
Therapeutic Indications
